Austin Pitts Wins Congressional Art Competition

Congratulations to Austin Pitts, a senior at Brock High School, for winning the 12th Congressional District’s Artistic Discovery Contest sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Austin won the 2017 competition with his art piece called “Union”. His work will be professionally matted and framed by Congresswoman Kay Granger’s office. The artwork will then be transported to Washington DC where it will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. Austin will also receive two airline tickets to Washington DC this summer and has already been offered two scholarship opportunities to art schools. Brock ISD would like to extend a huge congratulations to Austin, as well as his Brock High Art Teacher, Mrs. Sue Brunner. Congratulations on a job well done!
